Thirty Euro RX1 stars set for championship showdown as Loheac welcomes European Rallycross back to France

One of rallycross' most iconic weekends returns later this month as the FIA European Rallycross Championship heads to France for Round 5 of the 2026 season, with the legendary Circuit de Lohéac celebrating the 50th anniversary of the famous Rallycross de Lohéac from 28–30 August.

A cornerstone of European rallycross since its inaugural edition in 1976, Lohéac has earned a reputation as one of rallycross' spiritual homes. Set in the heart of Brittany, the fast and flowing 1.1km circuit, featuring a demanding mix of asphalt and gravel, has produced countless memorable battles over the past five decades, while its unique atmosphere and passionate crowds have made it one of the highlights of the international rallycross calendar.

With only two rounds remaining in the 2026 season, every point on offer could prove decisive as the championship battles enter their defining phase.

RX1

The headline Euro RX1 category once again boasts a full 30-car entry, led by championship rivals Johan Kristoffersson and Andreas Bakkerud, whose fight for the title has been one of the defining stories of the season. With the championship entering its decisive phase, neither driver can afford to give away valuable points around one of the calendar's most demanding circuits.

French fans will be treated to appearances from two of the biggest names in the sport, with nine-time FIA World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb and Kevin Hansen headlining a star-studded field. Loeb returns to compete on home soil at one of the sport's most celebrated venues, while former FIA European Rallycross Champion Hansen makes his first championship appearance of the season. The Swede's outing also marks a significant milestone as he competes in machinery outside the Peugeot family for the first time in more than a decade, bringing to an end one of rallycross' longest-standing manufacturer associations.

They are joined by a strong French contingent including Fabien Pailler, Julien Febreau and Andréa Bénézet, as the latter steps up from the RX4 category to make his Euro RX1 debut after an impressive campaign in the championship's newest grassroots class.

RX3

The Euro RX3 championship also arrives in Brittany with plenty still to play for. A competitive 17-car field will continue one of the closest title battles of the season, with championship protagonists Rytis Gurklys and Julien Meunier looking to strengthen their title ambitions ahead of the final round. French interest will be further boosted by home drivers Meunier, Dylan Dufas and Martin Massé, who will all be aiming to deliver strong performances in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

As the championship enters its final stretch, there is little margin for error. Against the backdrop of one of rallycross' most celebrated venues, all the ingredients are in place for another unforgettable weekend of FIA European Rallycross Championship action.
