O'Donovan family set to fly the flag for Ireland in FIA Rallycross World Cup

Irish rallycross will be represented by one of the sport's most recognisable family names when Ollie and Patrick O'Donovan line up together for the inaugural FIA Rallycross World Cup in Jakarta on 4-6 December.

Ollie and Patrick are the latest names to commit to December's FIA Rallycross World Cup, where the father-and-son pairing will race alongside many of the discipline's leading drivers at the first international rallycross event ever staged in Southeast Asia.

Few competitors can match Ollie O'Donovan's longevity in the discipline. A British Rallycross Champion and one of Ireland's most successful rallycross drivers, the Limerick native has enjoyed a career spanning more than three decades at the highest level of the sport.

A familiar face in both the FIA European Rallycross Championship and FIA World Rallycross Championship, O'Donovan has consistently demonstrated his pace against the world's leading drivers, combining vast experience with an unwavering passion for competition. Still a regular frontrunner in Euro RX1, he has remained a benchmark for consistency throughout the 2026 campaign.

Patrick O'Donovan has firmly established himself as one of rallycross' brightest young talents. The former FIA European Rallycross RX1 Champion secured the 2024 title after an outstanding campaign and has since continued to prove himself among the championship's leading contenders. He also made an immediate impression on the world stage by claiming a podium finish on his FIA World Rallycross Championship debut in Hong Kong at the end of 2023.

Having risen through the rallycross ranks, Patrick has combined outright speed with remarkable maturity behind the wheel, collecting race wins, podium finishes and consistently challenging at the front of the field. His performances over recent seasons have cemented his reputation as one of the discipline's most exciting competitors.

The O'Donovans have once again been regular fixtures in Euro RX1 this year, with Patrick continuing his fight towards the sharp end of the championship while Ollie has showcased the experience and racecraft that have made him one of the sport's most respected figures.

Their appearance in Jakarta will add another chapter to one of rallycross' best-known family stories, with father and son competing together on the international stage at the sport's newest global event.

Organised by the FIA alongside SARGA.CO, the FIA Rallycross World Cup will open an exciting new chapter for the discipline, taking elite rallycross competition to Southeast Asia for the very first time. The season-ending event in Jakarta will bring together leading international drivers for a landmark weekend of racing.
