Swedish rising star Casper Jansson will join the RX1 field for the FIA Rallycross World Cup, as the 2026 FIA European Rallycross Championship podium-finisher prepares to take on a new international challenge in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 4-6 December.

The 2026 season has marked an important step in Jansson’s career, with the young Swede completing his first full campaign in the headline RX1 category of the FIA European Rallycross Championship at the wheel of a Peugeot 208.

Treating the season as an opportunity to learn and build experience with the car, Jansson and his team have steadily developed their understanding of the Peugeot throughout the year. While Jansson already had previous experience behind the wheel of Supercar machinery, 2026 represented his team’s first season running and developing a car at this level, making each round an important opportunity to learn more about the car and its different set-up possibilities.

That progress produced a breakthrough result at Höljes in July. Competing in front of his home crowd, Jansson delivered an impressive performance to reach the Final and claim third place behind Johan Kristoffersson and Ole Christian Veiby, securing the first FIA European Rallycross Championship podium of his career.

Jansson continued to demonstrate flashes of front-running speed throughout the remainder of the campaign, including at the season-ending double-header in Lousada, Portugal. The characteristics of the Portuguese circuit suited both driver and car, allowing Jansson to show strong pace at different stages of the weekend and providing further valuable experience as he and the team continued to refine the Peugeot.

With his first full Euro RX1 campaign now complete, Jansson will turn his attention to a very different challenge in December as rallycross heads to Southeast Asia for the first time for the first-ever FIA Rallycross World Cup.

The standalone event will bring together international rallycross talent in the Indonesian capital, with drivers competing for the first FIA RX1 and RX5 World Cup titles. For Jansson, the event represents an opportunity to build on the progress made throughout 2026 and measure himself against an international field on an entirely new circuit.

The World Cup will take place on a purpose-built mixed-surface adaptation of the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit, transforming the existing Formula E venue into a rallycross track comprising 60 per cent tarmac and 40 per cent gravel. The layout will feature a highly technical Joker section, a jump on the back straight and a banked second corner, providing a completely new challenge for the field.

Casper Jansson said: “I’m really excited to be going to Jakarta for the FIA Rallycross World Cup. It’s a completely new event, a new track and a new challenge for everyone, so it’s going to be really interesting to see what we can do there.

“This season has been a big learning year for us. We’ve shown some really good pace along the way, especially with the podium at Höljes, and Portugal was another weekend where I felt really comfortable with the car. Now we want to take everything we’ve learned this year with us to Indonesia. To be part of the first FIA Rallycross World Cup is something special, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve there.”

The inaugural FIA Rallycross World Cup represents a significant new chapter for the discipline, extending rallycross beyond its traditional European heartland and bringing its signature mixed-surface, wheel-to-wheel competition to a new audience in Indonesia.
